5. The Witcher First-look

Netflix teased fans last week as they posted the first-look images of their new epic series – The Witcher.

The remake of the iconic books and game series will see Henry Cavill take on the titular role as Geralt, a wizard who roams the land killing monsters. Fans were overjoyed to see the images and further confirmed their belief that Cavill’s casting is perfect for the popular role. The show is scheduled to air in the fall

4. Wimbledon Starts

It is the biggest Tennis tournament on the planet, and last week Wimbledon began. The historic tournament has already seen immense drama with Bernard Tomic being fined his entire £45,000 fee for not meeting “required professional standards.”

Serena Williams has drawn huge crowds, but another American player has become just as popular. 15-year-old Coco Gauff has captured the hearts of tennis fans after sailing through to the last 16.

3. Taylor Swift Feud

Superstar Taylor Swift has found herself in the midst of an almighty feud with Scooter Braun – her former manager. Swift was responding to a new $300 million deal whereby Braun will come to own Taylor’s entire music collection.

Fans of the singer flooded social media and even launched a petition asking Swift to re-release her entire music again under a new label. Celebrities on all sides took to social media also to back the singer, where others took Braun’s side – including Justin Beiber.

2. Halle Bailey Is Ariel

Disney have officially announced the name of the actress playing their iconic role of Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Halle Bailey has won the coveted role and whilst the majority of fans were thrilled with the casting, some did voice objections.

Many raised concerns that Ariel is “white” in the cartoon and Halle – who is of both African and Indian decent – didn’t fit the “correct imagery”. Rightly so, the majority of Disney fans hit back calling out the “blatant racism” of the arguments. We for one can’t wait to see Halle take on the role!

1. William Remembers Diana

Last week marked the 58th birthday of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. To mark the occasion a collection of devoted fans held a vigil at the gates of Kensington Palace – Diana’s former home.

At around 6:45pm, the group got the shock of their lives after Diana’s eldest son, Prince William surprised the fans by greeting them personally! Flagged by minimal security William thanked the group for keeping his mother’s memory alive, adding he was deeply touched by their actions. What an amazing thing for William to do!
