niversal Orlando Resort have revealed further exclusives from their upcoming Jurassic World inspired ride, ‘VelociCoaster’. Theme Park officials released a sneak-peak at the gleaming carriages which will fire guests around the coaster’s track, reaching speeds of 70mph.

The 27-second clip shows the carriages of the ‘new species of roller coaster’ sitting in the boarding bay waiting for dispatch as mist swirls around them. We then see a brief, yet thrilling, POV footage of the coaster as it speeds through the numerous elements – many of them world firsts – before being told that the ride will open in summer 2021.

The ‘VelociCoaster’ will be the first attraction of its kind, according to Universal, who have kept most of the details about the ride secret. A new original story is promised to accompany the coaster with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard rumoured to have recorded new footage which will feature throughout the attraction.

Reaching heights of 155 feet and speeds of 70mph, the ‘VelociCoaster’ will be Florida’s tallest and fastest roller coaster and will feature a “Top Hat” element which will send riders hurtling down an 80 degree drop – Universal’s steepest yet. A zero-gravity inversion stall will leave guests dangling upside down across 100 feet of track, a manoeuvre which is the first of its kind.

Most of the construction for the ride has been completed, with the track and large parts of the scenery finished – and new footage has emerged of the ride making its way through the testing phase.

The footage, including both day and night-time testing show the colour scheme of the trains, their speed and the intensity of the ride.

A spokesperson for Universal explains that the ride will send guests “twisting and soaring across 4,700ft of track as they encounter near misses, launches, 12 heart-pounding seconds of airtime and more – with just a lap bar restraint holding them in place.”

The concept of the coaster is themed around the Velociraptors, which have been featured in all five of the movies within the franchise, and the design has been based around a zoo-like pen where guests can watch the coaster make its way around the track.

The spokesperson explained:“Jurassic World ‘VelociCoaster’ will be the next exciting addition to Jurassic Park at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

“Only in this immersive land can visitors come face-to-face with life-size dinosaurs in incredible theme park experiences, including Jurassic Park River Adventure, where a leisure raft ride turns into a daring eight-story plunge to escape a ferocious T. Rex. And Raptor Encounter, where guests can test their bravery and get up-close to Velociraptor Blue and the newest additions to the paddock – baby raptors – while learning more about the clever carnivores.”
