10. Mission Impossible, Fallout

The sixth movie in the series, Mission Impossible, Fallout was dubbed the best yet by critics and fans alike.

The movie added Henry Cavill and Angela Basset, with Cavill getting praise for his turn as August Walker. Fallout became a commercial and critical success with the action sequences getting special mention.

9. Hereditary

The first of two horror movies featured this year, but Hereditary tops our poll for being the scariest.

Dubbed by critics as one of the best horror movies of 2018, Hereditary terrified audiences with a supernatural story that shocked and horrified and received comparisons to another iconic horror movie, The Exorcist.

8. Mary Poppins Returns

The latest movie on our chart, Mary Poppins Returns enters our top 10 list thanks to recapturing the magic of the original.

This time around saw Emily Blunt take on the iconic role and takes a new generation of Bank’s children on adventures under the sea and across London in the most practically perfect way imaginable.

7. Wreck-It Ralph 2

It was the surprise hit that Disney was not expecting, and finally Wreck-It Ralph saw its sequel ignite the box office in 2018.

The movie saw Venelope and Ralph enter the internet and create all kinds of havoc. Featuring wonderful graphics and comical references to Twitter and other Internet companies, the movie has become one of the year's biggest hits.

6.The Incredibles 2

It is the long-awaited sequel to the Pixar classic and 2018 finally saw the superhero family, The Incredibles return to the big screen.

The movie became a huge success, breaking many records as it was released and saw Elastigirl take centre-stage this time around.

But perhaps the character that took the spotlight was Jack-Jack, who hilariously showcased his many different superpowers.

5. A Star Is Born

It has been remade numerous times, but 2018 saw ‘A Star Is Born’ return to the screens in its most successful outing yet.

Placing Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga into the leading roles, created a winning formula that has led to numerous award nominations with potential Oscars© on the horizon. It also launched a hugely successful soundtrack which proves that Cooper can hold a tune with ease!

4. A Quiet Place

In the surprise success story of the year, A Quiet Place was a terrifying concept which captured the attention of movie-goers across the globe.

The movie, which contains barely any speaking from its characters, made headlines as fans were spotted leaving theatres after becoming too scared! But perhaps it was the scene with Emily Blunt in a bathtub giving birth that kept audiences holding their breath!

3. Ready Player One

Steven Spielberg is an icon of the movie industry, but 2018 marked one of his biggest movies in decades, Ready Player One. The movie, based on the book by Ernest Cline was a mixture of stunning actions pieces and hilarious references to pop-culture icons.

The movie was a success at the box office with many fans hoping for a sequel, though is it yet to be seen.

2. Black Panther

The first of our Marvel entries, Black Panther took the world by storm and took the movie industry into a new era of diversity and representation.

The movie featured a predominantly black cast and proved that movies featuring people of colour can be financially successful. This was proved with the monster box office takings, making Black Panther, not only one of the biggest movies of the year, but in history!

1. Avengers: Infinity War

It was always going to dominate the movie box office of 2018, and therefore it was no surprise that Avengers: Infinity War took over $2 billion in ticket sales.

The penultimate movie, which will conclude in next years Avengers: Endgame, saw some of the franchise’s most famous and popular characters turn to dust, producing a cacophony of hilarious memes.
