10. Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Carrying on from the monster hit ‘Godzilla’ in 2014, the iconic lizard is back in next years follow-up.

Starring Millie Bobbie Brown of ‘Stranger Things’ fame, the story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.

9. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu

This will be the first time the Pokémon franchise hits theatres with a live-action movie.

In the Pokémon universe, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) is a former Pokémon Trainer and the son of prominent detective Harry Goodman. When his father disappears in a car crash, Tim arrives in Ryme City and ends up meeting Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds), who was Harry's former Pokémon partner. Tim is somehow able to understand the Detective, and they reluctantly team up to find Harry and uncover the mystery surrounding his disappearance. Chasing clues through the streets of Ryme City, the dynamic duo soon discovers a devious plot that poses a threat to the Pokémon universe.

It has been described as a front-runner for the award season, with Christian Bale the favourite for the Best Actor Gong as he brings Vice President Dick Cheney to life.

7. Brightburn

From Producer James Gunn comes a new dark take on the Superhero fable with ‘Brightburn.’ Much of the movie is wrapped in secrecy but the first trailer teases something pretty scary and unique.

Taking the Superman tale and twisting it on its axis, what would happen if the famed superhero grew up to be something far more frightening? Starring Elizabeth Banks and Matt Jones and directed by David Yarovesky, take a look at the trailer yourself!

6. Alita: Battle Angel

From the masterminds of James Cameron and Jon Landau, the geniuses behind Titanic and Avatar comes a new sci-fi adventure, ‘Alita: Battle Angel’.

Based on the popular Manga books by Yukito Kashito, 'Alita: Battle Angel’ follows the story of the titular Alita (Salazar), a disembodied "core" who awakens with no memory in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by a technological fall. Dr. Ido (Waltz) finds her and gives her a new body.[5] They later discover that Alita is more than what she seems and has an extraordinary past. As she navigates her new life, she battles other machines who are empowered with skills.

'Alita: Battle Angel’ is set to be released February 14th, 2019.

5. Artemis Foul

The latest original adventure from Disney comes from the hugely successful book series by author Eoin Colfer.

The story follows a young boy named ‘Artemis Fowl,’ who in order to rescue his criminal father and restore the family fortune, he and his trusted servant and bodyguard Butler seek the existence of fairies (believing that it makes a connection to his father) in hopes of robbing them.

'Artemis Fowl’ will be released on August 9th, 2019

4. Captain Marvel

As the 3rd Phase of the Marvel Universe story comes to an end, Marvel have revealed the 2nd trailer to the highly anticipated ‘Captain Marvel.’

Set in 1995, the movie follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the centre of an galactic conflict between two alien worlds.

'Captain Marvel’ is released on March 8th, 2019

3. Aladdin

Following on from the theme of “remakes,” Disney have released their first teasing look at the live-action version of their classic, ‘Aladdin.’

Starring Will Smith as the Genie, the movie will follow a similar plot like the original. And whilst controversy has somewhat marred the anticipated release, due to controversial casting choices, the trailer, when released, was met with universal praise.

Telling the tale of a poor young thief, ‘Aladdin’ is sent into the ‘Cave of Wonders’ to retrieve a magical Lamp. Releasing the Genie inside, he is bestowed three wishes which cause unprecedented chaos and leave the Kingdom of Agrabah in perilous danger

'Aladdin’ is released on May 24th, 2019.

2. Avengers: Endgame

After over 10 years of Marvel movies, starting with the first ‘Iron Man,’ the end has begun. The first-look trailer for ‘Avengers: Endgame’ stormed onto social media breaking the viewing records set by its predecessor, ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’

Carrying on from the cataclysmic ending of ‘Infinity War,’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’ picks up after 50% of the World’s population has been wiped out by Thanos. The small group of Avengers which are left strive to find a way to defeat this impossible enemy and restore order to the Earth.

'Avengers: Endgame’ is released on April 26th, 2019.

1. The Lion King

Many have been waiting for this moment ever since the project was first announced. And finally a teaser trailer was released of the highly anticipated “live-action version” of ‘The Lion King.’

Almost mirroring the look and feel of the original movie shot-for-shot, the trailer was met with universal praise and excitement. So much so that the trailer became the highest watched YouTube video on Disney’s channel.

Starring some big hitters, including Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chitewel Ejiofor as Scar, and James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa, the film looks a dead cert to be a blockbuster smash.

'The Lion King' is released on July 19th, 2019
