pider-Man fans spidey-senses have been tingling more than ever following reports that previous Spider-Man actors have joined the rumoured cast of Marvel’s next instalment of their most iconic superhero.

“Alongside British star Tom Holland, who has played Peter Park/Spider-Man on the big screen since 2016, Andrew Garfield and the “original” actor to portray the superhero, Tobey Maguire are set to don the spidey-suit once again.

The news comes after it was confirmed that Alfred Molina would return as Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx as Electro. Further confirmations appeared to endorse the rumours that Kirsten Dunst will return as MJ from Sam Raimi’s iconic Spider-Man trilogy, which had led to further expectations that Emma Stone will appear as Gwen Stacy – initially appearing in the Andrew Garfield movies.

Molina’s involvement in the Spider-Man 3 was heavily rumoured last month after the 67-year-old was spotted on set and Jamie Foxx alluded to his appearance in an interview, stating: “anything could happen.”

The news was reported by both The Hollywood Reporter and Collider who have claimed that Maguire is currently working through contracting issues with Sony and Marvel, whilst Garfield is already on board to appear.

Alongside the news of the former Spider-Man stars returning, Charlie Cox – who starred as Daredevil in Netflix’s successful series – has reportedly signed on to appear too.

The fevered rumours surrounding Spider-Man 3 have stemmed from a potential plotline involving the already visited spidey-verse – a concept explored in Sony’s Oscar-winning animation, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse. The involvement of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange seems to confirm this.

Stars of the Holland-led Spider-Man movies are already confirmed to appear, including Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori and Marisa Tomei.

The upcoming movie – which follows 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home – has already begun filming in New York and is also set for release on 17, December 2021.
