etflix have revealed their 10 most popular movies and it looks as if Chris Hemsworth’s action flick Extraction takes the top spot. The movie attracted 99 million views in its first four weeks of release, becoming the most watched Netflix original movie ever. Sandra Bullock’s Bird Box came second with an audience of 89 million, and Spenser Confidential, starring Mark Walberg, came third with 85 million.

The list is a rare look into the trends of the streaming services’ subscribers, as Netflix are notoriously secretive when it comes to viewing figures.

The results will come as good news for the film makers of Extraction and Birdbox with the announcement that Netflix are planning on follow-ups to both movies.

Other movies which made the list was Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, which took sixth place attracting 64 million views. Though that number pales in comparison to the Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler comedy Murder Mystery with 73 million.

Some notable absences included critic favourites, Marriage Story and Roma, which both failed to crack the top ten.

Bloomberg have pointed out, that out that the main draw of most of the movies which clicked with audiences was the presence of a major Hollywood star. Extraction has Chris Hemsworth, Bird Box starred Sandra Bullock, and Mark Wahlberg worked on Spenser Confidential.
