First Look at "Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar" - Movies

he first look at the upcoming comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar has finally been released. The comedy – starring Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo – is the first time the duo has collaborated since their juggernaut hit Bridesmaids. The movie will debut on Feb 12 and forgo a theatrical release. Instead, Barb and Star will premiere on premium video-on-demand platforms.

The comedy was initially set for release on July 16 last year, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, Lionsgate shirted their original release plans.

Alongside Wiig and Mumolo, Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan also stars and is featured occasionally in the first-look teaser trailer ripping his shirt and dancing on a beach. Damon Wayans Jr., Vanessa Bayer and Wendi McLendon-Covey also star.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar follows two the lifelong best friends (Wiig and Mumolo) who embark on the adventure of a lifetime after they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever. Choosing to go on vacation to Florida the friend finds themselves entangled in a plot to kill everyone in town by an evil villain.

The trailer, which was released today, shows the best friends discussing their love of movie trailers. “I like how they’re little movies about another movie before a different movie,” Star tells Barb. If they had their own movie trailer, the ladies discuss, they wouldn’t want to give anything away about the movie — especially their faces.

The movie is directed by Josh Greenbaum and was written by Wiig and Mumolo. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is set for release on video-on-demand on February 12.
