8TH OCTOBER

We rundown the top 5 news stories of the week!

From the Royal Wedding, to Kanye West's Oval office meltdown, this was the week that was 8th October...

5. The Royal Wedding

HRH Princess Eugenie and her long-term boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank tied the knot last week. The couple exchanged their vows at Windsor Castle, and whilst the location was the same as the previous Royal Wedding earlier in the year, there were subtle differences. An autumn theme ran throughout St George’s Chapel including the wedding cake.

The Princess stunned in a Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos dress that showcased Eugenie’s scar from an operation when she was 12 for scoliosis. Featuring a 15ft train, the dress stunned Royal fans and fashion critics alike. The Bridal party consisted of all the Queen’s great-grandchildren, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte and the ceremony was followed by a lively reception and afterparty.

4. Trump Goes West

In what is arguably one of the most bizarre scenes witnessed in the Oval Room at the White House, was the meeting between President Trump and rapper Kanye West.

The meeting was mostly West ranting about Politics, social events, the removal of the 13th amendment to remove the abolishment of slavery and dropping Air Force 1 for a new concept plane. The monologue lasted nearly 10 minutes and was met with a stunned President.

And the President wasn’t alone, the attending media felt the same, many with shock and dismay with Kanye’s comments, openly questioning his mental state. Much of the media also questioned the President’s use of Kanye West and whether his attention should have been on the devastating storm hitting Florida.

2. Ariana Grande Split

After a whirlwind relationship beginning in May this year, pop superstar, Ariana Grande and SNL favourite, Pete Davidson have split. The couple are yet to confirm but through numerous sources the couple’s relationship was said to have ended last weekend.

A reason has yet to be given, though many are stating drugs are involved on Davidson’s side and after the tragic death of Grande’s ex, Mac Miller, she couldn’t go through it again.

This is all speculation of course and until either Ariana or Pete officially announce anything, we won’t know for sure.

1. A New Royal Baby

Hot off the heels of the Royal Wedding, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they are expecting their first baby. The couple are believed to be passed the 12 week stage and they announced through Kensington Palace that they were “delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

However, the news has faced some minor backlash from activists of infant loss. October 15 is International Pregnancy And Infant Loss Remembrance Day and many felt the couple should have waited to make the announcement. Others however state that the couple will unlikely to be aware of the day.

Another backlash may come from the Royal Family, who were reportedly told at the wedding of Princess Eugenie, with many claiming that the Sussex’s actively broke the unwritten law of stealing attention away from the newly married couple.
